SuperSport United have made it clear that Kaizer Chiefs target Sipho Mbule is contracted to them and any team that wants him will have to pay an appropriate fee.

According to the club’s spokesperson, Mbule remains an integral part of the team.

Mbule’s multi-year deal with SuperSport United is likely the only reason he hasn’t already joined Kaizer Chiefs.

Kaizer Chiefs might well feel they can find better value among players with expiring contracts.

Kaizer Chiefs will have to pay for Sipho Mbule

The Swanky Boys have suggested there is a reason that Mbule remains a SuperSport United player. Illness has limited Mbule’s playing time.

“Sipho Mbule is still here despite people linking him to Kaizer Chiefs for over a year now,” club spokesman David Sikhosana told KickOff.

“Sometimes players experience fatigue.

“There are so many things to his limited appearances. Psychologically sometimes players are not ready to play.

“But it depends on the technical team’s assessment to say, ‘But this one akekho mnandi’.

“After having Covid as well as other issues players are not as strong to take it like a man.

“In football things can change within 24 hours so I will be lying if I guaranteed him remaining at the club.

“Remember with Mbule it was not only Chiefs, but several other teams showing interest such as Sundowns, Pirates with others such as AmaZulu and Cape Town City.

No Guarantees in football

Sikhosana continued.

“But in football, I would be lying if saying things won’t happen, but for now Sipho is still with us and we hope he will still be with us for many years to come, but anything is possible in football.

“I guess this break will make things easier for the players and the technical team, especially those that were affected by Covid.

“But I can guarantee there is no current offer on the table for Mbule, at SuperSport we operate very professionally, and he still has a contract.

“If Mbule has to move it means somebody has to buy him, that’s it. And as you know most clubs now are avoiding spending besides Sundowns.

“Teams want players who will be free agents in the next six months or so, he’s not one of those as he is still contracted to us.

“Remember we don’t stand on the way of a player if he wants to leave.”
