Ex-Kaizer Chiefs star never had intentions to return home

A former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns star defender never had intentions to return to South Africa’s PSL after leaving Israel.

A former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns star defender never had intentions to return to South Africa’s PSL after leaving Israel.

Siyanda Xulu is currently playing in Azerbaijan after he signed for Turan Tovuz IK at the start of August, and this was after some five months without a club.

Upon his return from Israel following the termination of his contract by Hapoel Tel Aviv, Xulu trained with AmaZulu for the purposes of keeping fit.

At the time, his agent, Paul Mitchell confirmed that there were no plans for Xulu to sign with AmaZulu, and this has ben reiterated by the player himself.

According to the 30-year-old, there were never plans for him to come back to South Africa as he wanted to continue plying his trade abroad.

And he is thankful that he managed to secure a move to Azerbaijan although he admitted it’s not going to be easy as he’s in a new environment with new culture.

“My plan wasn’t to come back home now, even though my contract at Hapoel Tel Aviv was terminated, the plan was to stay overseas and try to keep that level,” Xulu told the media.

“So, for now, I’m happy that I did manage to find myself a new home. It’s not going to be easy, obviously, a new environment, new culture, new league. So, I’m just hoping it’s going to be a very productive season for me,” added Xulu.
