Kaizer Chiefs main striker target set to REJECT the club, here’s why! 

Kaizer Chiefs’ fortunes could be set to suffer more agony as reports claim their top striker target is prepared to reject them, should they approach him.

It has become an open secret now that Chiefs have set their sights on Yanga SC striker Fiston Mayele, after yet another prolific season for the Tanzanian giants.

Just under a year ago it is was even reported by journalists on the continent that Chiefs had wrapped up the signing of Mayele. Those rumours proved to be false, however, with club officials from both Amakhosi and Yanga, combining to refute those claims. Recent reports documenting that period of the links suggested that the move was in fact close to happening.

It didn’t end up happening however, but Mayele proved to be undeterred by that as he continued his incredible goal scoring form for Yanga this season. The 28-year-old has scored 31 goals in all competitions this season, and recently made scored a goal that won him a the CAF goal of the Week award, which would have also undoubtedly attracted the interest of Chiefs in his services once again.

Even though a move did not materialise the last time around, it is now being reported that Yanga are willing to cash in on Mayele, with Chiefs one of a number of teams that will have to pay the Tanzanian champions the big bucks if they are to convince them to sell the Congolese marksman to them.

This publication reported earlier in the week that Mayele has also attracted interest from the likes of Al Hilal, Al Marrikh, Raja Casablanca as well as an unnamed club from Turkey. The price Chiefs would have to pay to sign the player was also revealed to be R10 million.

It was also thought that Chiefs were in pole position to sign Mayele because the player had made it clear to his agent that he wants to play in South Africa next. Now according so FARPost, the player would rather not sign for Chiefs unless it is the only offer he gets in the country. 

Mayele prepared to reject Chiefs

“He follows the PSL a lot and sees the instability at Chiefs. It’s obviously a concern for him, and if he had a chance to join another team other than Chiefs, he would. hey’re definitely not top of the teams he would be eager to join. He is also unsure if they’ve given his scouting due diligence.” Said the source that publication claims is also a Yanga player who is close to Mayele.

It remains to be seen if that is true as Chiefs are believed to pressing ahead for his services. The timing coinciding with them also meeting the representatives of Marumo Gallants Ranga Chivaviro do seem to add a bit of suspicion to the theory.
