Kaizer Chiefs lodge URGENT appeal to PSL after Covid-19 crisis

Kaizer Chiefs have lodged an URGENT appeal to the PSL after Covid-19 wreaked havoc in the Amakhosi training camp.

An astonishing 31 players tested positive for the virus, leaving Chiefs an entire squad worth of players ineligible for most of their matches in December.

Amakhosi have four big DStv Premiership encounters during this time against Cape Town City, Golden Arrows, Sekhukhune United and Royal AM.

These include the MTN8 finalists up next and top-class opposition throughout with United and MaMkhize’s side in the top 5. Therefore, Chiefs can not afford to field a reserve side, especially, after working so hard to climb up to second.

CHIEFS LODGE URGENT APPEAL TO PSL

Amakhosi are appealing to have their December fixtures postponed.

“The Club has written to the Premier Soccer League to request for a postponement of the five upcoming games in December against Cape Town City (4 December), Golden Arrows (8 December), Sekhukhune FC (12 December), Royal AM (19 December) and Maritzburg United (22 December) to avoid risk of infection and further spread of the virus and allow those affected to recover and complete their quarantine period before they can play against other teams,” a relevant source from Chiefs stated.

Chiefs cannot field a reserve or youth side against top sides in the DStv Premiership.
