Kaizer Chiefs are in the process of refreshing their squad ahead of the upcoming season and, according to Soccer Laduma, they’re looking in the direction of Supersport United striker Evans Rusike as a potential signing.

The Glamour Boys were previously linked with the Zimbabwean international back when he was still a Maritzburg United player, but eventually lost out to Matsatsansa.

According to the publication, an offer has been tabled, and could see the 28-year-old join countrymen Khama Billiat, Willard Katsande and Teenage Hadebe at Naturena.

It is said that Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp is a fan of the player, who he’s worked with during his previous stint at the Team or Choice.

The duo were together at the KwaZulu-Natal club for two seasons, after the player joined from Zim outfit Hwange FC in 2015.

Rusike left Maritzburg midway through the 2017/18 season, joining the Tshwane outfit amidst reported interest from some of the local big guns, including Amakhosi.

In his first season in the nation’s capital, he netted just once in 12 league appearances, bagging two assists, before faring slightly better in the most recent campaign, scoring five times in 24 matches.

Another club reportedly interested in bagging his signature is reigning PSL champions Mamelodi Sundowns.

However, Rusike’s contract with Supersport United runs until 2021, meaning potential difficulties for any suitors.
