A legendary former Kaizer Chiefs coach has explained why Arthur Zwane’s quest for trophies will be an extremely tough journey

Kaizer Chiefs legend Joseph ‘Banks’ Setlhodi has opened up on Arthur Zwane’s opening half of life in the Amakhosi hot-seat.

The Amakhosi endured a hot-and-cold beginning to Arthur Zwane’s tenure.

Chiefs showed glimpses of what they’re capable of under Zwane but ultimately failed to make it count when it matters most.

Zwane’s side earned a positive league result against rivals Orlando Pirates while their MTN8 semi-finalists finish was proof there’s lots of more work to be done.

And now, Joseph Setlhodi has explained why Zwane’s job at the mighty Kaizer Chiefs is going to be extremely tough.

Not many ‘champions’ in Zwane’s Kaizer Chiefs side – Banks

“For me, Arthur is doing well. This is his first venture, and he hasn’t been in that position for too long.” -Joseph ‘Banks’ Setlhodi told SoccerLaduma.

“He got a Kaizer Chiefs team that wasn’t stable, but the team is functioning now under his guidance.

“There is hope under his leadership. I think one of the advantages for Arthur is that he is one of those who know how to win cups, having done so as a player.

“When I compare Arthur’s tenure as a Kaizer Chiefs coach and mine, I realize how fortunate I was because I took over a winning team.

“It was an intelligent team that had the will to win trophies. Arthur has got none of that.

“I don’t think many of players he is coaching know how to win trophies because they have never achieved that.

“I think Arthur is doing well and he needs to be given a chance to build the team again.”

In other news, legendary Kaizer Chiefs midfielder and current Under-19 coach David Mathebula has tipped five youth players to make a name for themselves in the first team.

Mathebula believes these five players are ready for the jump to senior football and have the ingredients to be Amakhosi stars in the future.

In a recent interview with IdiskiTimes, the youth coach opened up on some of the hottest upcoming talent at Naturena.

Samkelo Zwane, Mduduzi Shabalala, Wandile Duba, Aiden McCarthy and Puso Dithejane are all talented enough to crack it in the first team according to Mathebula!

Shabalala and Zwane have already shown glimpses of their talent however they’ll both be hoping for more game-time in the new year.
