He is one of the greatest Kaizer Chiefs players and a fan-favourite who will hang up his boots proudly after a truly legendary career.

Kaizer Chiefs legend, Bernard Parker has decided to retire, according to recent reports on The South African.

Meaning, he becomes the most recent Amakhosi legend to hang up his boots.


Parker has confirmed that he will retiring.

“Now, as it stands, Bernard Parker is officially the head coach of the DDC team, and hopefully, I will be assisted by Vuyo Mere,” Parker told SABCSport.

Therefore, Barker will transition from player to coach. Taking charge of TS Galaxy’s DStv Diski Challenge team next season.

Parker will go down as one of the greatest Chiefs players of all time. In fact, he is the clubs highest all-time goal-scorer of the PSL era. ‘Die Hand’ scored 61 goals and completed 40 assists in 364 competitive matches, according to Transfermarkt. So, that is a total of over 100 (101) goal contributions for Chiefs.

Furthermore, Barker spent over a decade with Amakhosi. Parker represented Chiefs for 11 years between 2011-2022. He joins the likes of Siphiwe Tshabala, Reneilwe Letsholonyane and Willard Katsande as retired Amakhosi legends.


Tshabalala, Letsholonyane, Katsande and Barker will all return to Naturena to wear the Chiefs shirt one more time.

In fact, Amakhosi confirmed these legendary and exciting returns on their official website. Therefore4, Chiefs legends will take on Bloemfontein Celtic legends on 28 July. Kick off is at 12:30.
