Sithebe is thought to be edging ever so closer to his long-protracted move to Chiefs this January, and Mendu has given his former club advice on what would bring he best out of him.

Mendu won two titles at Chiefs

Mendu who spent three seasons at Chiefs, winning the PSL title twice during his time at the club, will know all about what it takes to become a success as part of the club’s midfield. Having closely observed Sithebe at Amazulu over the seasons, he has advised the Glamour Boys management to try and replicate what their coach Benni McCarthy has done with him at Usuthu.

How the Amakhosi management should play him

“He (Sithebe) is good player. He is a box-to-box midfielder and very talented but the biggest challenge is that he will need someone like Makhehleni Makhaula to protect him, Coach Benni McCarthy really exposed lots of things about him and made him shine by using him alongside Makhaula. Now the question is, can he get the same support at Chiefs?” Mendu said to Soccer-Laduma.

Mendu then also expanded on what aspect of Sithebe’s game would need to work on, in order to become an asset to Chiefs should he join the club.

What he needs to improve on

“If he ends up at Chiefs, he will need someone to protect him and he will need to improve on his scoring. I believe with Keagan Dolly and Khama Billiat, he will definitely improve. A top player that will be a good signing. He just needs a few things to improve. Definitely a good addition for the club, if he joins.”
