Kaizer Chiefs legend completes his coaching badges!

A Kaizer Chiefs legend is the latest recently retired Premier Soccer League player to obtain his CAF D coaching licence!

Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Willard Katsande has began his post-career preparations.

The 36-year-old Zimbabwean called time on his playing career at the end of last season after a 12-year run in the PSL.

Katsande joined Ajax Cape Town in 2010 from Harare Gunners and after impressing in the Cape, he earned a dream to Kaizer Chiefs in 2011.

As the saying goes, the rest was history for Katsande who enjoyed a trophy laden 10 year spell at the Amakhosi.

In 2021, the midfielder parted ways with Chiefs before joining Sekhukhune United for a solitary season.

He then called time on his career as a player however, he’s now likely to return to the sport but this time around as a coach!

“I did my CAF D licence in order for me to set the path of my growth since I know what I want.” The Kaizer Chiefs legend told KickOff.

“I owe football because to get to be where I am today is through football, so I owe football. This is now my time to share my knowledge to the next generation so that they come out better than us.

“With us we tried our level best, but it wasn’t good enough for us to conquer African football.”

“Mthethwa is a very honest guy, and has been a good professional at Stellenbosch since he set foot at the club.” an insider told Citizen regarding the Kaizer Chiefs target.

“He is well aware of all these teams that want him, but he also knows that the club can’t afford to lose him.

“The Stellenbosch management are already working on a new contract for him because they want to put a stop to all these links,”
