New Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Brendon Petersen has admitted it’s every player’s dream in South Africa to play for one of the big clubs.

New Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Brandon Petersen has admitted it’s every player’s dream in South Africa to play for one of the big clubs.

Petersen completed his move to Chiefs two weeks ago after spending a year in their facility in Naturena following the sale of Bidvest Wits.

Petersen recalled how excited he was when his agent told him that Chiefs were interested in his services when he was at Wits.

“As a footballer in South Africa, you want to play for one of the big teams,” Petersen told the Chiefs website.

“So, when I received a call from my agent to say that Kaizer Chiefs is interested, it was a great feeling. It was amazing, it was good to know that I would be part of a brand like Kaizer Chiefs,” he said.

Chiefs have had some talented goalkeepers who left as legends of the club, including the likes of Gary Bailey, William Shongwe, Botente Eshele and Brian Baloyi among others.

And Petersen is aware that the bar and the expectations are just too high for him to disappoint at Chiefs.

“Coming here as a goalkeeper, you know there’s a rich history of goalkeepers. Just being part of that is a huge honour for me,” added Petersen.

“My family and everyone is excited for me, as they always are no matter where I go.

“For me, it is a huge privilege to be part of this team, and I am looking forward to the seasons ahead,” Petersen concluded.
