Stellenbosch FC midfielder Phathutshedzo Nange says he doesn’t like to celebrate his goals against coaches he respects.

Orlando Pirates legend Benedict ‘Tso’ Vilakazi has questioned Kaizer Chiefs’ decision to bolster their midfield with the signing of Phathutshedzo Nange.

Nange will be joining Chiefs from Stellenbosch FC at the end of the season after the two parties agreed on a deal before the former Bidvest Wits man moved to the Western Cape on a one-year deal last year.

However, Vilakazi feels the fact that Nange hasn’t started against bigger and tougher opponents such as Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns means he’s not ready to wear the famous gold and black jersey.

“I am concerned about this potential signing because the player is actually not a starter at Stellenbosch. iDiskiTV has covered his recent games against Chiefs and Sundowns, and in both matches, he did not start,” said  Vilakazi to DiskiTimes.

“I do not understand why a player who is struggling at a smaller club would be signed by a big team like Kaizer Chiefs,” he said.

Vilakazi further raised a few critical questions about the impact Nange would make at Chiefs, asking if he is the player to help them win trophies.

“What impact is he going to make at Chiefs if he cannot break through at his club at the moment?” asked Vilakazi.

He added: “We always talk about the pressure that comes with playing for a huge club. I know it because I have been there and it is very difficult to cope with the expectations of the fans sometimes.

“How is Nange going to help Chiefs reclaim their glory days?”
