Kaizer Chiefs latest | Mixed medical news ahead of Stellenbosch clash

Kaizer Chiefs youngster Lebohang Lesako has been dealt a cruel blow following confirmation he has been sidelined for the next month with a knee injury.

Amakhosi confirmed on Friday via social media that Lesako underwent surgery following an awkward landing during the side’s 3-0 win over Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila on Tuesday.

The 21-year-old lasted just six minutes before being stretchered off.

“Lesako will be out for 3 of 4 weeks after a knee injury. Speed recovery!” read a statement from the club.

Meanwhile, defender Ramahlwe Mphahlele faces a late fitness test ahead of Saturday’s encounter against Stellenbosch FC at the Danie Craven Stadium.

Kick-off is at 17:00.

“Captain Ramahlwe is undergoing a late fitness test after a hamstring injury,” the Kaizer Chiefs statement added.

In some positive news, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo, who scored a superb goal against TTM (watch here), has been declared fit to play after initial fears he too may be sidelined.

“Ngcobo is available for selection after limping out before the match ended on Tuesday,” Kaizer Chiefs’ medical team confirmed.

Kaizer Chiefs are up to seventh in the standings after a run of three consecutive victories. Their opponents on Saturday, Stellenbosch FC, are in ninth place, two points behind Amakhosi.
