Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter has heaped praise on two of his fringe players following the team’s 3-1 win over Swallows FC on Sunday.

Kearyn Baccus got a rare start in the absence of Njabulo Ngcobo in midfield while Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya came on as a second half substitute.

And Baxter said he was pleased with the duo’s performance on the day, saying the load on other players was just too much.

“With these three games that we have had in a very short time, the load on the players was enormous. So, we had to [ring the changes] really,” Baxter told reporters.

“We were conscious, that’s why we had a lot of changes to start with and then we tried to ease the load at the finish by putting some of the other lads on,” explained Baxter.

“I thought Kearyn was excellent in his role, Ntiya-Ntiya came on and had a very good little cameo. So, it was good,” added Baxter.

TRANSFER LIFELINE FOR BACCUS AND NTIYA-NTIYA?

Baxter’s encouraging words on Baccus and Ntiya-Ntiya come at a time when reports continue to do the rounds that the duo could be released by Chiefs.

Baccus’ contract with Chiefs expires in June 2022 while Ntiya-Ntiya still has three years left in his deal although he was transfer-listed at the end of last season.

The two players haven’t been seeing enough game time since Baxter arrived towards the end of last season.
