For quite some time, there have been some conflicting rumours over whether Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana was the type of player Chiefs were really looking for in their ongoing search for a powerful striker.

The 24-year-old also recently opened up about his time at the club, and hit out at Chiefs in a shock series of allegations.

Yet, in the latest dramatic about-turn, it’s reported by KickOff.com that Chiefs are on the verge of announcing a ‘blockbuster striker addition’.

The latest report from the publication states that Bimenyimana has touched down in South Africa and could be ‘presented’ at the club on Thursday.

It’s also said that the contract terms were finalised this week ‘following marathon meetings’ that included Kaizer Motaung Snr and Kaizer Motaung Jr.

Other talk had recently suggested that a change of heart from Chiefs bosses has led them back to Bimenyimana, and that a deal was then agreed upon.

“The deal is in the bag for Chiefs but there has been so much crazy behind-the-scenes happenings, it is now just a matter of key papers being processed. The way deals are done is not a walk in the park anymore,” said a KickOff insider based in East Africa on Wednesday, while also adding that Bimenyimana also turned down SuperSport United after making contact.

BOMBSHELL: BIMENYIMANA ACCUSES CHIEFS OF UNPROFESSIONALISM!

Bimenyimana had recently said he could not keep waiting on Chiefs for long.

“I have to move on,” he told KickOff.com. “The next team that I will play for will not be from Africa. I thought everything went well while I was training with them, but I don’t know what happened in the end because I was meant to stay there for two weeks but they kept me for another week.

“They have now since put me on the waiting list. I think they should have been honest with me and tell me the truth rather than keep me waiting. They are not professional. They should have been able to tell me the truth that they will not sign me so that I just move on without thinking of waiting for them as they have done now.

“During the three weeks that I spent with them, I blocked out other options because I was sure that I will get a deal there. Now, it feels like being with them was just a waste of time. I wish them all the best in the new season,” added Bimenyimana.

Earlier this month, according to SABC Sport, the Burundian striker was in line to move back to South Africa to conclude a deal with Amakhosi. The report stated that the powerful forward had in fact done enough to impress the Chiefs bosses.

Then in another twist, though, the 24-year-old was seen with Rayon Sports FC in Rwanda, a club he spent time with between 2017 and 2019.

Bimenyimana’s signing seemed to be confirmed by the club who had him featured in a picture captioned: “He is back. Bonfils Caleb”. However, it’s since emerged that this was just a visit, and not a sign of a possible deal in the works.

Chiefs had previously been non-committal when talking about Bimenyimana

“Look, he (Bimenyimana) has done well, to be quite honest,” Arthur Zwane said last month, according to FAR Post. “We are still undecided as to whether we are going to bring him on or if we are still looking because we are looking for a certain type of striker with the way we want to play and the way we are going to play in future.

“We can’t just have someone who will sit inside the box. Yes, he is very mobile, and he is comfortable on the ball, but we are looking at other qualities as well.”
