Kaizer Chiefs coach Gavin Hunt is confident his team will work hard to pick up the three points on offer in their CAF Champions League clash against Petro de Luanda.

Legendary Zambian attacker Rainford Kalaba is set to make his way to the PSL with Kaizer Chiefs and Cape Town City reportedly leading the race.

The 34-year-old TP Mazembe midfielder needs no introduction having won five DR Congo league titles while he also triumphed back home with Zesco United in the Zambian top flight.

Kalaba won the prestigious AFCON with Zambia in 2012 while also going on to lift the CAF Champions League trophy with Mazembe in 2015 and may very well be just what the doctor ordered for Kaizer Chiefs.

Kalaba edging closer to PSL move: Kaizer Chiefs and Cape Town City interested

Many may argue that the midfielder is beyond his peak however not many can deny his pedigree and the experience he’ll bring to just about any PSL club.

A player of Kalaba’s pedigree may very well lift Kaizer Chiefs’ midfield to new heights while Cape Town City who aren’t shy to rope in experienced players are also rumoured to be interested in the Mazembe star.

Stellebosch FC are another team that may soon join the mix. Kalaba’s compatriot and close friend Nathan Sinkala recently joined the club and may prove to be a great bargaining chip in the race to land him ahead of Kaizer Chiefs and Cape Town City.

KickOff.com can reliably confirm that Kalaba has now opened the door for a potential move to South Africa, with sources close to the player confirming he feels he has unfinished business in the PSL.” a Kick-Off report read last month.

“With extensive experience and success on the continent as one of the few players that have won every African title on offer, Kalaba is keen to follow his compatriot Nathan Sinkala – who joined Stellenbosch from Mazembe in January 2020.”

Kaizer Chiefs will be keeping a close eye on Kalaba who could form part of spanking new midfield which will include Phathutshedzo Nange.
