Kaizer Chiefs are believed to be preparing for a long spell without midfielder Cole Alexander.

Alexander, who joined Kaizer Chiefs at the outset of the season, has reportedly dislocated his shoulder and it’s unclear at this stage how long he will be out for.

Kaizer Chiefs injury update

Since joining from Indian Super League club Odisha FC, Alexander’s PSL return has been hampered by injury.

He has proven to be a Stuart Baxter favourite in his short time at Amakhosi and struck up a midfield partnership with former Bidvest Wits teammate Phathutshedzo Nange.

The outlook on Alexander is believed to have motivated Kaizer Chiefs to push through the transfer of Amazulu midfielder Siyethemba Sithebe.

Bad news for Baccus

Sithebe’s arrival could be bad news for Kearyn Baccus who is already struggling for game time.

Kaizer Chiefs legend Marks Maponyane is concerned for Baccus’ future.

“He is a good player, and whenever he comes on he makes a good contribution,” Maponyane told KickOff.

“The only thing is with the new coach I’m sure he wants to play in a certain way and he doesn’t find him to fit into that style.

“That to me is a setback for him. But then again at the end of the day, it’s not about him it’s about the team.

“But the thing is the team is not winning regularly so you will realise that at some point players will need to be given a run.

“Unfortunately it happens to a lot of players where you as a player of quality…it’s just the roll of the dice sometimes I would call it. And you will think how can they let go of so and so and kept this one?

“He is not a bad player, I wouldn’t even at any moment say good riddance you know.

“But with his thoughts of going back I don’t think it’s anything bad you know, we all want to play we not getting young.

“It won’t be a major loss you know (His departure) because he hasn’t been playing. So it won’t be highly impactful given the fact that the memories of his contribution are very distant.

“As a player, you appeal to other coaches and you don’t appeal to others you know.”
