Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly joined the race for the signature of Tanzanian-born striker Ismail Aziz Kada ahead of the upcoming DStv Premiership season.

Just last week, Chiefs announced the signings of five new players and a loanee’s return to Naturena. That announcement was swiftly followed by a statement from club’s Head of Technical and Youth Development Academy Molefi Ntseki promising more signings.

And while the team has just safely landed in Casablanca, a City that must be starting to feel like home now, for Chiefs-for the CAF Champions League, it is believed that those who are tasked with the recruitment back home, are still hard at work trying to ensure reaching such feats is not a once off for a club of Chiefs stature.

Chiefs recruitment still on

Now in the midst of those recruitment talks, a new name has come up in the form of Kada. The hitman was plying his trade for Azam FC in the recently concluded season, but is now reportedly set to land in the country next week to thrash out a deal. Reports suggest that Kada is a wanted man, with Chiefs just one of three DStv Premiership teams that have shown an interest in his services.

Kada has emerged as latest target

Kada seems to have been a player Chiefs have been following for quite some time now according to reports, with the clubs scouting team monitoring him closely and are now hoping to get a closer look at him and assess his abilities, before potentially making a decision on whether to sign him or not.

A source speaking to The Citizen stated that Chiefs are satisfied with that they have seen from afar from Kada, who can also be deployed in midfield.

“The Tanzanian player (Kada) will be in the country in a day or two. I’m not sure which other clubs you’re talking about. He will be assessed at Chiefs because the scouts have seen him play but the coach (Stuart Baxter) also has to look at him.

“But, you know the club has been very busy with the preparations for the Caf Champions League final, so he won’t be given much attention this week. The coach will be very busy. Let’s say from next week, because then the focus will be on getting the team ready for next season. But, I know about him and I’ve heard a lot of good things,” said the source.

Amakhosi haven’t signed a striker yet

Chiefs are yet to reinforce in the striker position, where they already have options in the form of talisman Samir Nurkovic and Leonardo Castro. Zambian international Lazarous Kambole is also originally a central striker who has not been given his chance through the middle at Amakhosi.
