The latest defeat once again highlighted the problems the Soweto giants are currently facing, not only in their technical team, but among their playing personnel as well.

Kaizer Chiefs are now in fifth place in the standings and looking over their shoulders as they slip closer and closer to the bottom half of the standings.

MTN8 hopes fading fast

Amakhosi have 39 points from their 26 matches to date and are just four points ahead of ninth-placed side Golden Arrows.

While their quest for a top-3 finish and CAF football next season appears dead and buried, it would be a complete and utter disaster should Kaizer Chiefs miss out on the MTN8 as well.

Their final four matches are a mix, on paper at least, of tough and easy games where they will play, in order, the 11th, first, 10th and 14th-ranked teams.

Three of the four matches will be played at FNB Stadium – which is some good news at least.
