Kaizer Chiefs have 13 players available! But who are they?

Kaizer Chiefs are anxiously waiting on a decision from the Premier Soccer League regarding their request to postpone their next five matches.

Amakhosi are due to host Cape Town City FC in their next DStv Premiership match at the FNB Stadium on Saturday, 4 December.

However, thanks to an outbreak of Covid-19 at Naturena, 31 players and management staff have tested positive and are isolating at home.

According to the Soccer Laduma website, the Glamour Boys only have 13 players available for the clash against the Citizens!

Hence their urgent application to have the match postponed.

There is no clarity who those 13 players are.

Should Kaizer Chiefs’ request be denied, they will have to make up the numbers with their DStv Diski Challenge reserve league squad.

In a statement on Friday, the Soweto giants confirmed that they do not have a technical team to prepare them, suggesting coach Stuart Baxter is among the 31 who returned a positive Covid test.

League rules state clubs only need a minimum seven players for a match to go ahead, while the match day squad is usually around 18 players (starting XI plus substitutes).

Following their match against Cape Town City FC, Kaizer Chiefs are due to play Golden Arrows away on Wednesday, 8 December (19:30), host Sekhukhune United (Sunday, 12 December at 18:00), travel to play Royal AM (Sunday, 19 December at 15:30) and host Maritzburg United (Wednesday, 22 December at 19:30) in their remaining matches in 2021.
