Maluleka joined Sundowns in July 2020 following the expiry of his contract at Chiefs although the Naturena-based side had a chance to extend it until September that year.

And that’s because the league, as per FIFA instructions, had given clubs an option to keep those whose contracts were expiring in June an extension in order to finish the season.

However, Chiefs didn’t take that option with Maluleka simply because he had already signed a pre-contract with Sundowns and didn’t diclose that to the management until late into the negotiations.

After being granted his wish to play for Sundowns, Maluleka didn’t really receive enough game time during his two-year stint as he could only manage 19 games under his belt over two seasons.

He has now featured 16 times for AmaZulu, three games short of what he could afford his entire stint with Sundowns.

Nonetheless, Maluleka has closed the Sundowns chapter as he wants to focus more on AmaZulu, and he just didn’t want to talk about what really happened at Chloorkop.

EX-CHIEFS STAR MALULEKA CLOSES SUNDOWNS CHAPTER

“I don’t remember anymore. I have been with AmaZulu for six months now. So, what happened at Sundowns, I don’t remember,” Maluleka told the media at Philly’s Games launch in Tembisa.

“I am at AmaZulu and I am enjoying my time. I had a good time at Downs. Not everything will go smoothly in your career. I don’t think Sundowns was ‘very bad’ as people make it out to be but whenever I played, I did well. I played well,” added Maluleka.

“I didn’t play much but it’s okay. I am very happy I went to Sundowns, and I am very happy I left. I am glad I’m at AmaZulu, I’m happy that I am playing again. I’m looking good, I feel good and I am happy,” concluded Maluleka.
