Lebese started off by revealing that it was always his dream to play for Sundowns even before he became a professional with Kaizer Chiefs.

He said the dream was supported by his parents, who, when an opportunity to play for Sundowns presented itself, encouraged him to join the Tshwane giants.

“I wanted to go there as a kid, and that’s beyond everything that had happened, and that’s besides coach Pitso and everyone,” said Lebese in an interview with Radio2000

“I wanted to go there because I grew up in Mamelodi. My parents supported it until I broke into profession with Chiefs.

“And then I got an opportunity to be at Sundowns, and I told my parents, and they were like, ‘Okay, go! How do you feel about it?’.

“I was like, ‘I also want to go’ because the coach (Mosimane), said, ‘look, I would like to have you in my team’. So, I said, ‘Okay, sharp! Let me go there’,” added Lebese.

While the majority is of the view that Pitso Mosimane destroyed Lebese’s career, the left-footer, in his own words, said: “I went there and like I said, I have to be… not very careful, but I have to be very honest about what I say.

“I mean, I can easily say, ‘Pitso destroyed me’ but I can also easily say, ‘Pitso made Percy’ because he’s a national treasure, he’s a good coach, he produced so many players,” continued Lebese.

“I am one of those that didn’t happen. What happened then? I don’t know, to be honest. I tried everything.

“There was a point when I had to lose weight – I looked very thick. I lost all the weight I could because I felt I belonged in the team,” explained Lebese.

“Two things happen, you work out, it doesn’t work out.”

Above all, the 32-year-old midfielder insisted that he doesn’t regret leaving Chiefs for Sundowns in 2017.

“Do I regret going to Sundowns? I will never regret. I always say to people that things didn’t work out the way I would have wanted,” concluded Lebese.
