WHO WAS HOT?

Cole Alexander was immense. He fulfilled the role of Willard Katsande with excellence, strength and commitment.

He made several interceptions, telling tackles and held onto position very well. Alexander was calm on the ball and seemed equally composed and professional. He played like a veteran even though it was his starting debut for Chiefs.

There are strong signs that Stuart Baxter has found the right man to fill Katsande’s boots. It will be interesting to see him link up with Lebogang Manyama when the star returns.

Hlanti had a huge outing too. The experienced left-back started many counters for Chiefs from the back and made life difficult for the Sundowns attackers. He closed down and read the movements of Zwane very well.

The Amakhosi left-back was a brick wall on defense. He worked tirelessly to ensure Chiefs were secure at the back and ready to turn attack into defence.

This was highlighted when he beat 3 defenders on a run down the left in extra time.

He wore his heart on his sleeve and left it all out there for Amakhosi.

Keagan Dolly made an immediate impact, providing an assist to former Sundowns teammate, Khama Billiat within minutes of coming on. He looked to be a constant threat.

WHO WAS NOT?

Nange and Sekgota underperformed. They were both given starts in a massive game for Chiefs and seemed overwhelmed.

Both players had a mixed showing, they weren’t bad but they underperformed. Nange lost position carelessly at times and looked shaky on the ball well Sekgota lacked the accuracy when needed most.

They are exciting young players who will only get better as the season goes on.
