It’s expected that Kaizer Chiefs will announce their new coach Nasreddine Nabi imminently, with the end of the month targeted.

Chiefs have been searching high and wide for their next coach, and had targeted a high profile appointment at that.

After what seemed to be a final shortlist of Pitso Mosimane, Alexandre Santos and Nabi. Mosimane was largely considered the ultimate favourite for Chiefs, but never looked like a viable option. That changed when his Abha Club got relegated from the Saudi Arabia topflight. But it seems like his availability came too late, with Amakhosi maybe having already made their decision.

On the other hand, Santos was considered to be close to joining Chiefs, and was a strong favourite last month. His chances seemed to increase after he won the Angolan league for the third time in a row with Petro de Luanda. There was even more heat added when the club announced the Portuguese had left the club for a new challenge elsewhere. It was even thought he left because he believed he would be the next Amakhosi coach.

Nabi set to join Chiefs

In a turn of events, Santos shot down the whole situation, admitting to talking to Chiefs but to no agreement. Nabi then emerged as an outright favourite and Amakhosi’s management looked to be going all out for him. He’s now expected to be confirmed as their coach after the Throne Cup semifinal fixture for his side AS FAR.

Now with all the rumours about him joining Chiefs, Nabi has finally broken his silence on the deal.

“I have big offers from abroad. Kaizer Chiefs, yes but not only Kaizer Chiefs. I will decide my future after the Throne Cup competition. I will meet with the president and decide my future.” He said to Moroccan media.

Reject other clubs for Amakhosi deal

This should sound like music to the ears of Chiefs fans, because Nabi won’t confirm his agreement prematurely. But it is no secret that he is in demand. Who is also clear is that, out of all the offers, on the continent and abroad, he chose Amakhosi! This should mean he believes in the project and most importantly, believes he can turn the situation around at the club.
