Kaizer Chiefs fans on social media were left fuming with goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune following the Amakhosi’s 2-1 defeat against Cape Town City.

Cape Town City took a 2-0 lead thanks to goals by Tashreeq Morris and Surprise Ralani however the manner both goals came have left Amakhosi fans fuming with goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune.

Itumeleng Khune has been a long-standing servant of Kaizer Chiefs and is currently the most capped player at the club however, he has found himself on the wrong side of fans far too often during the 2020/2021 campaign.

Just a fortnight ago, Itumeleng Khune was the hero for the Amakhosi during their away draw in Guinea against Horoya which secured their historic CAF Champions League Knockout stages qualification.

Khune’s performance suggested that he has returned to the form that once upon saw him owning the Bafana Bafana number one shirt however the Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper has left fans fuming once again after his performance against Cape Town City.

Kaizer Chiefs fans left furious with Itumeleng Khune

Fans argued that a goalkeeper of the caliber of Itumeleng Khune should have denied Morris’ strike which slipped under him while Khune simply watched Ralani’s tame effort trickle into the net without making any attempt to get to it.

Itumeleng Khune has already conceded 16 goals in just nine DStv Premiership clashes so far this season. The fact that he’s yet to keep a clean sheet in over 800 minutes of football should be ringing the alarm bells at Naturena.

Much like Kaizer Chiefs in general, Itumeleng Khune has been a different goalkeeper in the CAF Champions League altogether. The former Bafana Bafana goalkeeper has kept four cleansheets in six matches while conceding six goals.
