Were Kaizer Chiefs really ever interested in Andile Jali to begin with though? We’ve got our doubts, but the Sundowns man isn’t moving to Naturena.

According to a new report from Phakaaathi, Chiefs have dropped their interest in the 32-year-old midfield general if there was even any in the first place.

Kaizer Chiefs cast search away from Andile Jali

Rumours that Andile Jali arrived at Sundowns training reeking of booze last week has put Kaizer Chiefs off the scent. His deal with Masandawana is expiring in June. Naturally, Amakhosi would be linked to a player of his pedigree and experience. The Glamour Boys would have been a natural fit for Jali, given their need for a commanding central presence, but that’s not going to happen by the looks of it.

Jali will be an intriguing free transfer option for…someone

Andile Jali will be available on a free transfer when his current Sundowns deal expires in June. It is extremely unlikely that the South African champions will be offering him an extension.

“If he was on the list of players Chiefs were looking at, then it is not going to happen any more,” Phakaaathi’s source said.

“Arthur (Zwane, the Chiefs coach) is very strict on such things. He does not want players whose lifestyle can be a disturbance to his team.”

Zwane has publicly said before that he wants to bring in players who do not drink or smoke to his team at Chiefs.

The Naturena side have had incidents of their players skipping training and being in the tabloids for all the wrong reasons.

Chiefs have Nedbank Cup action on their mind with a clash against Casric FC in the round of 16 on Sunday.
