Stellenbosch head coach Steve Barker has issued a ‘hands off’ warning to local teams amidst reports Kaizer Chiefs were swooping in on two of his players.

Last season, the Glamour Boys scooped up two of arguably his best players in Ashley Du Preez and captain Zitha Kwinika.

But this time around, Barker has boldly claimed the club won’t be selling their players to local clubs!

Arthur Zwane’s side have been linked with Stellenbosch midfield duo Junior Mendieta and Sibongiseni Mthethwa since the beginning of the season.

But if Barker’s words are anything to go by, the Motaung’s can forget about any new arrivals from the Cape come next season.

“So the message is that we are not here to lose our best players.” the Stellenbosch coach said as quoted by IdiskiTimes.

“May be on the odd occasion, you get an offer, we’re not going to stand in the way when a European team comes in for one of our players and he’s got an opportunity to play at a higher level. We’re not that club that will say no.
