KAIZER CHIEFS LOOKING AT BASADIEN

According to a Phakaaathi report, Sifiso Hlanti could leave the Glamour Boys when his contract expires in June 2024.

That publication believes Chiefs have their eyes on 26-year-old Fawaaz Basadien to replace him and/or bolster their options at left full-back. Sifiso Hlanti was the first-choice left-back at the start of this campaign. However, since a return to fitness for Edmilson Dove, the Mozambican has usurped veteran Hlanti in the side.

“According to a source in the know, Chiefs have been keeping tabs on Fawaaz Basadien from Stellenbosch FC and are planning to make him an offer once the current campaign wraps up,” reports Phakaaathi.

“Stellenbosch has given the nod to sell Fawaaz Basadien to Kaizer Chiefs when the season ends.

“Basadien is being lined up as the replacement for Sifiso Hlanti, as the coaching crew has decided not to renew his contract come June.”

MTHETHWA’S ARRIVAL SPELLS THE END FOR SITHEBE?

Sibongiseni Mthethwa, a new arrival from Stellenbosch, is set to be the starting number 6 under Molefi Ntseki. Yusuf Maart and Edson Castillo were deployed alongside him in a midfield three against. It seems as though Siyethemba Sithebe is now far down the pecking order.

“You know there were talks to renew Sithebe for another year until June 2025 but since the team has signed Sibongiseni (Mthethwa), it doesn’t look good for Sithebe,” the Siya source reported on SoccerLaduma.

“The club would like to see him finish his contract but they won’t renew it. But also there is the possibility of him moving earlier than that if there are offers in January whether on loan or a permanent move,” they added.
