Kaizer Chiefs star goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi is set to reach an agreement with the club over his future.

According to reports, the first choice Amakhosi goalkeeper has been offered a bumper new contract with his current one coming to an end at the end of the season.

Kaizer Chiefs star offered bumper new contract

“Everyone is happy with what he has contributed to the club, he has been very reliable and Chiefs would have wanted to lose someone with such a huge experience like him.” a source told Phakaaathi.

“I mean, Itumeleng Khune has been missing at the club for a while now, and Akpeyi is more experienced than Bruce Bvuma and Brandon Petersen. So there was no way that they would just let him go.

“I hear that Daniel Akpeyi has been offered a sweet contract, it’s very sweet in terms of money. But, he is one guy who is very loyal and loves being at Kaizer Chiefs. I don’t think money would have been a major issue for him at the team.”

Nigeria have also selected the Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper in its 28-man squad for next month’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroon.

Daniel Akpeyi is one of four ‘keepers to have been selected in the Super Eagles’ squad for the tournament which will kick off on 9 January and conclude on 6 February 2022.
