Countless names have been linked with the Kaizer Chiefs hot seat. However, only three men are reportedly being looked at – with a surprise name back in the mix.

Amakhosi are set to appoint a new head coach in the coming weeks.

With their season now over, Cavin Johnson’s time is up.

The search for his replacement has been narrowed down to three candidates.

NEXT KAIZER CHIEFS COACH: THREE CANDIDATES REMAIN

Initially, Pitso Mosimane and Alexander Santos were the only two candidates. However, Nasreddine Nabi is now back in the picture.

“The announcement (of a new coach) is very soon. But again, Nabi is back on the radar as they agreed early on that he could bring his own part of the technical team,” said Soccer Laduma.

Nabi was the ‘favourite’ previously for the top job at Naturena before Kaizer Chiefs’ management opted for Molefi Ntseki at the last minute.

Ironically, he could now be selected just as it seems that Mosimane – or Santos – are closing in on a possible appointment.

Regardless, whoever is appointed will have to make some huge decisions.

This is in part due to the fact that several Kaizer Chiefs stars are linked with exits.

BENNI MCCARTHY TEASES AMAKHOSI POSSIBILITY

Benni McCarthy is now a free agent – a free agent who supported Kaizer Chiefs growing up.

Furthermore, he is an Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana legend.

He is widely respected by South Africans and he will demand this from the players.

This is one of the things that Kaizer Chiefs management are looking for.

Moreover, he has teased the possibility of joining Amakhosi, stating that he would consider coaching them if an offer was made.

“I think we can safely say that Kaizer Chiefs is an institution, listen, it’s a great club that I always had a lot of love for. My local team, the team that I supported as a kid is the Black and Gold of Kaizer Chiefs. Unfortunately, I never had the pleasure to play for them or to coach them.

“If the opportunity comes or anything, of course, I’ll have to sit down and think about it because like I said, you don’t say no to institutions,” a report stated on FarPost.
