Chiefs have dropped crucial points due to costly individual errors, some by experienced players like Itumeleng Khune.

Khune has since opened up on the ‘abuse’ he and his teammates have been receiving by fans due to their mistakes on the field of play.

Kaizer Chiefs star hits back at fans

“Football is a team sport and yes, when the team is not doing well certain individuals will be labeled and will be given names.” The Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper told KickOff.

“But I think that’s what brings the best out of me, as an individual, and out of the team.

“As a leader you can’t run away from the situation you are facing.

“You have to face it head on while other players look up to you as a role model and as a senior member of the team.

“So yes, we will be given names, but one game doesn’t define an individual.

“I mean, I’ve played for almost two decades. Yes, I’ve been given names before but how I bounce back is more important.”

Amakhosi defender Sifiso Hlanti makes a return from suspension this weekend to face rivals Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Bafana Bafana defender has lavishly praised the Brazilians for their incredible form.

“So, it is a challenge that needs us as players to be united. We need to do the most and respect the game of football so it is not going to be an easy one.”
