PSL executive committee sits amid Covid-19 crisis facing Kaizer Chiefs

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) executive committee is set to meet TODAY, 6 December 2021 amid Covid-19 crisis facing Kaizer Chiefs.

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) executive committee is set to meet TODAY, 6 December 2021 amid Covid-19 crisis facing Kaizer Chiefs.

On Friday, Chiefs wrote to the PSL to request their league game against Cape Town City postponed as 31 of their employees had tested positive for Covid-19.

However, at this stage, it is unclear what the resolution was but Cape Town City did pitch at the FNB Stadium on Saturday only to find the gates locked.

Now, the executive committee is set to deliberate on the matter and perhaps revisit some of the decisions made in August 2020 regarding Covid-19.

One of the resolutions was that no team would use Covid-19 as an excuse not to honour their fixtures.

And based on that rule, Chiefs had no choice but to honour the fixture (which they didn’t), and may face punishment from the league which could include losing three points to Cape Town City.

The league is expected to communicate the outcome of today’s meet before Chiefs visit Golden Arrows on Wednesday.
