Kaizer Chiefs have decided to bring one of their legendary stars back to Naturena, this time to serve in a different capacity.

Kaizer Chiefs have decided to bring one of their legendary stars back to Naturena, this time to serve in a different capacity.

David Mathebula has made a sensational return to Chiefs where he will assume the role of the U19 team coach as well as assistant to Vela Khumalo.

Mathebula is a qualified coach having worked at Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila and later Marumo Gallants.

He left Gallants in March 2022 for unknown reasons but Chiefs couldn’t let his talent go to waste as they snatched him to work with their juniors.

According to Chiefs, Mathebula will work with the likes of Tshidiso Letsholonyane and Jimmy Jambo in nurturing the raw talent in the development.

He will also be seen on the bench alongside Khumalo whenever the Chiefs Diski Challenge team plays this season.

Mathebula needs no introduction to Amakhosi fans as he dazzled the midfield during his playing days.

He oplayed for Chiefs between 2004 and 2011 although he spent the final year of his contract on loan at Mpumalanga Black Aces.
