Fact is, Kaizer ChiefsItumeleng Khune is not getting any younger. However, we are talking about a goalkeeper here and we all know how long they can keep going.

WHEN WAS HIS AMAKHOSI DEBUT?

Do you all still remember his debut before he remarkably displaced the splendid but underrated Emile Baron? It was the year 2007 when Baron was injured. The then coach Muhsin Ertugral put all his trust in the kid from Ventersdorp.

He was 20 and nobody could imagine Itumeleng Khune was set to be a great Amakhosi icon. Has he surpassed Doctor Khumalo? Hhhm, that’s a story for another day

Kaizer Chiefs’ Khune is now 34 years of age and naturally, his retirement will tend to enter conversations.

KAIZER CHIEFS’ ITUMELENG KHUNE ADDRESSES HIS RETIREMENT SUGGESTION

After one supporter posted a tweet on the Twitter platform about Khune’s future, the former Bafana Bafana star was quick to send out a firm reply.

The Twitter user with the handle @oyama_yaya simply imagined how emotional it would be to witness Kaizer Chiefs’ Khune retire one day.

“Khune deserves a farewell match. I’ll shed tears when he retires,” he said.

The legendary goalkeeper, who is sometimes known as “Mzansi’s number one,” responded with a short but firm statement. The veteran suggested that the idea is still a distant possibility.

“I’m not going to retire anytime soon Fam,” Khune said before adding a wink and praying hands emojis.

There were sure to be a few passionate comments on the post. One of the few that caught the eye will surely inspire Khune. The user @TheRealJobe7 said: “Plz keep playing you still have a lot to contribute, look to the likes of Buffon, Ahmed from Egypt, and Iker Casillas. You are of the same caliber.”

Meanwhile, Khune is expected to feature in this weekend’s DStv Compact Cup final as his Warriors take on Coastal United at FNB Stadium. DStv Premiership action will only be back in the weekend of 15-16 February.
