Kaizer Chiefs are at work, and it’s nearly a week before the Glamour Boys step out onto the football pitch to face their unforgiving expectations to win games.

AMAKHOSI’S RETURN FROM THE CHRISTMAS BREAK

As The South African reported earlier this week, the Glamour Boys confirmed Stuart Baxter’s and his technical team have not only recalled the boys from holiday, a full-on training camp is underway.

It has to be said that the Christmas break didn’t arrive at the most opportune of times. Kaizer Chiefs were just starting to fly. The Glamour Boys had lost only one match from seven games, which included five wins. Sadly the break came and Amakhosi have to start all over next month.

The club posted plenty of pictures from their training camp, no less than 16, via social media on Sunday. The gallery included images that confirm the exciting returns of men like Samir Nurkovic, Dumisani Zuma, and Leonardo Castro.

KAIZER CHIEFS TRAINING CAMP IN CAPE TOWN?

The Soweto giants had not revealed where the team was until another team basically gave it all away. It seems Amakhosi are in Cape Town, or at least somewhere in the Western Cape.

How do we know? Well, a friendly match was played on Wednesday and the day’s opponents posted images of clubs’ staff and players during the practice match.

The GladAfrica Championship side, Cape Town Spurs, formerly known as Ajax Cape Town, posted the images on social media.

Some of the pictures, taken from the Athlone Stadium, include Samir Nurkovic, assistant coach Dillon Shepperd, the club’s former assistant Shaun Bartlett, who now coaches Spurs, as well as head of youth Molefi Ntseki.

Meanwhile, Kaizer Chiefs will be on the matchday grass next weekend. Their opponents will be TS Galaxy in the Nedbank Cup last 32 in Johannesburg.
