Kaizer Chiefs: Forget Mosimane, we need Benni McCarthy! – OPINION

So much attention has gone on Kaizer Chiefs bringing Pitso Mosimane to Naturena. However, they should divert their attention to Benni McCarthy.

Amakhosi management are looking at bringing an extra coach to Naturena.

However, they should look at McCarthy instead of Mosimane as he is the man that can fix the Glamour boys main concern – an under fire and inconsistent attacking department. After all, he was an excellent finisher and he has worked wonders with the likes of Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho at Manchester United.

CHIEFS MUST FORGET MOSIMANE, FOCUS ON MCCARTHY

Amakhosi fans must forget Mosimane. Firstly, he is more likely to sign for one of the African giants with names like Zamalek, Wydad Casablanca as well as international side, Nigeria popping up.

Furthermore, McCarthy is an attacks coach which means his strengths direct address Amakhosi’s main problem.

The key difference between Mamelodi Sundowns and Amakhosi has been upfront.

The Brazilians regularly have Peter Shalulile, who regularly reached double-figure for Masandawana. In contrast, Amakhosi have struggled to find a prolific goal-scorer for many years now.

Players such as Leonardo Castro, Samir Nurkovic, Lazorous Kambole and more recently, Caleb-Bonfils Bimenyimana have all fallen short of fans expectations and Amakhosi’s needs. They desperately need to fix their attack with Khama Billiat and Keagan Dolly underperforming this season.

Therefore, McCarthy would be the perfect fit for Amakhosi. Moreover, he is a specialist attack coach and he now has experience guiding and mentoring the lies of Rashford and Sancho. In fact, he played an instrumental role in the Red Devils securing qualification for next seasons UEFA Champions League.

MCCARTHY GETS THE BEST OUT OF HIS PLAYERS

McCarthy took a struggling AmaZulu from the brink of relegation to their best ever finish.

When he was in charge of Usuthu, they finished above Amakhosi and Orlando Pirates, finishing second in the 2020/21 PSL season.

Furthermore, he has turned Rashford’s goal-scoring woes around. Under Benni’s tenure, Rashford has amassed 16 goals and five assists in 33 Premier League appearances this season. Just imagine what he could achieve with Mduduzi Shabalala, Ashley Du Preez, Keagan Dolly and any future Amakhosi strikers.
