The Glamour Boys made an excellent start to the contest and were rewarded when Stellies defender Olwethu Makhanya brought down Du Preez in the box.

The former Stellenbosch FC man dusted himself off and converted the spot-kick.

The visitors were then reduced to 10 men when Stephens was given his marching orders for handling the ball outside of his penalty area while denying Dolly a goal-scoring opportunity.

The Soweto giants then doubled their lead midway through the first half when Dolly struck a shot from outside the box that took a slight deflection to beat replacement goalkeeper Lee Langeveldt.

Stellies, to their credit, held out until half-time and came out a different outfit after the interval as coach Steve Barker made a few tactical adjustments.

They were rewarded when Jabaar collected a through ball that beat the Kaizer Chiefs defence and calmly slotted past Brandon Peterson.

The visitors then had a glorious opportunity to steal a point in injury time, but Peterson pulled off a point-blank save from Juan Carlos Ortiz.

The win saw Kaizer Chiefs move to 40 points, but stay fourth in the standings, tied with second-placed Orlando Pirates and third-placed SuperSport United.

Amakhosi will next be in action at home against Marumo Gallants on Saturday, 8 April at 20:00.
