Kaizer Chiefs have been dealt a massive blow ahead of the January transfer window. It appears they may not get all of their main transfer targets…
Amakhosi have been dealt a major transfer blow as Stellenbosch do not want to release Sibongiseni Mthethwa.
Stellies management are desperate to keep their Bafana Bafana midfielder as Chiefs interest looms large, according to Phakaaati.
Arthur Zwane and Amakhosi management have identified Mthethwa as one of their main targets ahead of the up and coming January transfer window.
However, Stellenbosch do not want to release their midfielder as he is one their key players.
Mthethwa and Stellenbosch are well aware of Chiefs’ interest, with that being said, Mthethwa is also aware of his importance to the Cape-based outfit who want to ensure he stays at the club.
“Mthethwa is a very honest guy, and has been a good professional at Stellenbosch since he set foot at the club. He is well aware of all these teams that want him, but he also knows that the club can’t afford to lose him. The Stellenbosch management are already working on a new contract for him because they want to put a stop to all these links,” the club insider reported on the same publication.
This does not mean that Amakhosi will give up the chase for the star midfielders signature. What it does mean is that they will have to enter into quite the battle with Stellies management for Mthethwa’s signature.
At the end of the day, the ball in in his court but a solid offer will go a long way in pursuing his decisions.
Mthethwa has also attracted interested from the likes of Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates and MaMkhize’s Royal AM.
His current contract expires in 2024. Meaning, if any one of these clubs want to lure him over in January they will have to dig deep into their pockets to buy him out of his contract.
