Kaizer Chiefs have a new exciting attacker in Ashley Du Preez. Let’s see why Amakhosi have signed four players in one.

KAIZER CHIEFS ANNOUNCE DU PREEZ

As The South African reported on Monday, the 24-year-old from Idas Valley, a township in Stellenbosch, signed for the biggest club in Mzansi.

His announcement was paired with his fellow Stellies boy Zitha Kwinika who will play the less exciting role of central defence.

“Kaizer Chiefs are happy to announce the signing of defender Zitha Kwinika and striker Ashley Du Preez from Stellenbosch FC from 1 July 2022,” the club said.

WHAT DU PREEZ BRINGS

So what can coach Arthur Zwane and the Kaizer Chiefs faithful expect from Du Preez?

The 24-year-old has been described as a striker, been that hardly defines what he is all about. Firstly, when you say a striker, people imagine a center forward in the box. Well, that is not really Du Preez.

The speedy star takes deep positions around the number 10 areas when he waits for moments to fly away from defenders into the box at high speed. He is definitely not going to be a like-for-like replacement for the likes of Samir Nurkovic and Samir Castro.

As a fast runner, Du Preez can obviously do three other jobs in the number seven, 10 and 11 positions. He will therefore often changes positions during games to allow tactical flexibility and unpredictable danger.

Meanwhile, the new Kaizer Chiefs attacker is expected in Amakhosi colours in July for the Carling Black Label pre-season game against Orlando Pirates.
