Arthur Zwane was escorted by police with Kaizer Chiefs fans rage reaching it’s peak. Is this the end of his reign as Amakhosi coach?

Zwane had to be escorted out of the Peter Mokaba Stadium by police after his sides shock 3-2 loss to Golden Arrows on Sunday.

CHIEFS FANS INFURIATED, ZWANE ESCORTED BY POLICE

Amakhosi lost, again. This is something that Chiefs supporters are fed up with.

Furthermore, when you are coach you are the first to be blamed for your side’s poor results. Therefore, all of these losses have left Amakhosi supporters enraged and they have now lost patience with Zwane.

In fact, things have escalated so much that Zwane was literally escorted by police in order to keep him safe from potential fan rage. With Amakhosi management is well aware of his results and the current anger and disappointment of their fans.

He may be still Amakhosi coach. However, more and more fans are calling for him to be sacked.

The harsh reality is that a Soweto derby defeat at the weekend to Orlando Pirates could really put his job on the line. At the very least, mounting huge pressure on his position as head coach.

TWO LIFELINES PROVIDED FOR ZWANE

In fact, he is left with two potential lifelines and the truth is he is not favoured to achieve either.

First, seasonal success – Nedbank Cup glory presents Zwane and Amakhosi fans with their last shot at silverware. The PSL is a foregone conclusion, to the surprise of nobody with Mamelodi Sundowns maintaining a stronghold for the past six years. While the MTN8 went to their Soweto Rivals, Pirates.

Meaning, Amakhosi fans can only really hope for silverware in the Nedbank Cup. However, they still have quite a way to go if they are to beat Mamelodi Sundowns so this is unlikely unless Downs get knocked out by the likes of Pirates or a major upset occurs.

Secondly, a derby win is a must for Zwane and if form is anything to go by than the Bucs are firm favourites. Thankfully, form is thrown out the window in derbies.
