It’s no secret that Kaizer Chiefs want to sign Golden Arrows wide man Pule Mmodi. But at what cost?

Kaizer Chiefs and Mmodi is a transfer saga with no end in sight

Let’s do a quick recap of the situation as we know it. Mmodi has been linked with a move to Naturena for the last two transfer windows. His Arrows contract expires at the end of June this year, so Amakhosi could well sign the 29-year-old Bafana man for nothing. However, if they wait until then it’s likely they’ll face competition from other clubs.

Do Chiefs even want Mmodi?

Whether his agent has leaked the alleged Chiefs interest to the media to increase the demand for his client, or there is genuine interest from Chiefs, remains to be seen.

Nothing concrete has actually happened. And that makes this whole thing a little boring to be honest. Another point worth considering is that Chiefs’ reputation is at stake here. Imagine what it says about the club if they court a player for months and months and he ends up signing for somebody else? Then what? And what if that somebody else is Orlando Pirates? The fallout from such an outcome would be unbearable for Arthur Zwane and co.

Will anyone even be excited if and when Mmodi finally makes the switch to Naturena? By then, the excitement would have long since subsided. Just put us out of our misery please, Pule Mmodi, and make your mind up sooner rather than later.
