Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates to be dealt transfer blow by Mamelodi Sundowns! 

It had been expected that both Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates will resume their battle off the field for a Mamelodi Sundowns player.

Chiefs and Pirates have both been credited with a move for Sundowns midfielder Lebohang Maboe in recent months but are set to be dealt a huge blow!

Maboe joined Sundowns as hot property more than a few seasons ago now, after helping Maritzburg United survive relegation. It has, however, been a stop-start few years at Ka Bo Yellow for the midfielder, who has had patches of regular football as well as struggles for game time at the club. During his time at the club, he has also won and lost his place in the Bafana Bafana set up, which is natural when you are not a regular at a club with plenty of competition.

Maboe has also not been helped by his extensive injury issues during his time at Sundowns, and now as the club keep adding the likes of Sipho Mbule and Bongani Zungu to the fray, it is expected that they will make a big decision on the future of the player at least by the end of the season. Throughout his various challenges at the club, his quality has never been in question, however, and that is why the likes of Chiefs and Pirates are thought to be monitoring his progress.

But now according to the latest reports doing the rounds on Soccer-Laduma, Maboe is set to be offered a new deal at Sundowns, which could all but end the pursuit from Chiefs and Pirates for his services.

“While there is uncertainty over several players with reports indicating that some will be released, the Siya crew has gathered information that Lebohang Maboe has been offered a two-year extension on his contract” wrote the publication.

Whether Maboe stays injury free and gets game time at Sundowns next season, remains to be seen or else he might regret not holding out for a move to Chiefs or Pirates for a better chance at that.
