Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates lose key AFCON stars – ONE surprise selection!

Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates have each lost one key player to Nigeria ahead of the 2022 African Cup of Nations.

Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates have each lost one key player to Nigeria ahead of the 2022 African Cup of Nations.

Daniel Akpeyi has been Amakhosi’s first choice goalkeeper for the bulk of the year.

He has been solid in goal for Chiefs, beating the likes of Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Bruce Bvuma and Chiefs legend Itumeleng Khune as well as promising talent Brandon Peterson to the starting birth. He has now earned his call up to the Nigerian national side, as was expected.

In a perhaps more surprising selection, Olisa Ndah has been called up to the Nigerian squad.

This, after his impressive showings for Pirates in the PSL. He has been a brick wall on defence for the Bucs and deserved his call up.

Ndah will get the chance to showcase his talent against the likes of Mo Salah when his side take on Egypt on the 11 January, 2022.

Khama Billiat has not been selected for Zimbabwe and as it stands, he will stay and train with Chiefs.
