Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates dealt huge blow in chase for Stellenbosch duo! 

Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates have already started to pursue their transfer targets for next season, but they may not get their full list of targets.

Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates have already started to pursue their transfer targets for next season, but they may not get their full list of targets.

Chiefs have already done some of their business early with three players said to have already found themselves signing for Amakhosi.

As it stands, Chiefs have already confirmed the capture of SuperSport United and Botswana captain Thathayoane Ditlhokwe on a pre-contract. The 24-year-old centre back will compete for a place in the heart of the Amakhosi defence next year with Given Msimango. The 26-year-old TS Galaxy star is rumoured to be joining on four-year-deal worth more than R4 Million. The next player set to form part of the Glamour boys is Mduduzi Mdantsane, who is believed to have agreed a three-year-deal from Cape Town City.

In the case of Pirates, there have been no reports suggesting that they have signed anybody as of yet, but have been linked with a whole host of players. From goalkeepers like Reyaad Pieterse, Toaster Nsabata to centre backs Tandi Mwape to midfielders like Thabo Nodada and forwards like Ashley Cupido, Katlego Otladisa and Stellenbosch FC’s Junior Mendieta

In the case of Mendieta, Pirates are joined not only by their Soweto rivals Chiefs, but other Gauteng rivals like Mamelodi Sundowns. On the other hand, Amakhosi are also believed to be interested in Stellenbosch midfielder Sibongiseni Mthethwa. But now according to the latest reports all of the clubs above are set to be dealt a crushing blow by the Cape Winelands club.

“There is a no-sale tag placed on the entire squad because the management wants to build a solid squad for next season, and selling top players will mean that they will have to start all over again,” said a source to The Citizen.

Despite this update, it is still to be expected that Chiefs, Pirates and Sundowns will try by all means to test the resolve of Stellenbosch for the likes of Mendieta and Mthethwa. After all the old adage goes, ‘every player has a price’.
