Former Kaizer Chiefs star Junior Khanye says Amakhosi have a made a “blunder” by signing Mozambican left-back Dove Edmilson.

Edmilson was invited for trials in Naturena prior to the start of the current season and was able to impress enough to seal a deal with the Glamour Boys.

However, Khanye who these days is a football pundit, says Kaizer Chiefs wouldn’t get Edmilson for free if he was any good.

‘HE’LL BE EXPOSED A LOT’ – KHANYE

“He has spent six years here in South Africa but then he does trials at Chiefs,” said the confused Khanye on iDiski TV.

“We’ve seen you, you’ve played against us, you played against other teams and after that we call you up for trials.

“At Kaizer Chiefs, they do trials now? They must trial on development not the senior side because that is a big team.

“Dove Edmilson is another blunder for Chiefs, even if he’s playing regularly he will be exposed a lot.

“As I am saying, I’ve watched his games. Why he did trials if he was good enough?

Khanye went on to put forward a name that Kaizer Chiefs should have considered for the left-back position.

“There are left-backs they could have signed. There is Terrence Mashego [Cape Town City], they should have signed him. He is a very good player,” he added.

“They signed Dove as a free agent and a quality cannot be free. Mashego cannot be free, he’s a quality and they should have gone for him.

“They have signed many free agents over the years and it was eventually proven why they were free.

“Dove is also shocked to seal a deal with Chiefs because he should started in the the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

“They made a blunder by signing him, I don’t think he’s good enough to play for Kaizer Chiefs. I’ve seen him tactically, he runs one way.”
