Golden Arrows sent shockwaves throughout the country’s football fraternity after they announced that they had agreed to part way with coach Ncikazi. The shock sentiment staying from the fact that Ncikazi had garnered so many plaudits for the work he had been doing in the recently concluded DStv Premiership.

Makhanya believes Ncikazi would be overwhelmed by Pirates job.

Now Makhanya has admitted to Kickoff.com  that he thinks that Pirates are too big a club for Ncikazi to coach at this early juncture as a head coach.

“I still felt he was right where he was [at Arrows], he was still finding himself,” said Makhanya.

“With the pressure that comes with coaching Pirates, I don’t think he’s the right man, but as long as he’s got proper support, he can do well.

“He showed at Arrows that he’s got the capabilities of being a good coach, but still I think it was too soon for him to leave them for Pirates. I think there’s too much pressure there.” Makhanya continued

He is of the impression that Ncikazi would’ve done better soaking up more experience

Makhanya is of the impression that Ncikazi would’ve benefited more from several more seasons at Arrows too.

“I feel he still needed to establish himself for three or four seasons before he could consider [coaching] teams like Pirates, because sometimes these teams can break you instead of build you. The pressure is too much.”he said Makhanya

Makhanya though did suggest a capacity Ncikazi could perform in at Pirates.

Hints at his potential capacity

“For now, he [Ncikazi] can be an assistant and maybe the club find somebody who is stronger as a head coach. That’s if Pirates are looking for a coach, because the current coach has not left yet,”

As it stands Pirates have not specified which role Ncikazi will fulfil, with rumours rife that he will reunite with Steve Komphela at Pirates as coach and assistant coach.
