Jose Riveiro on what went wrong in Soweto derby

Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro has revealed what went wrong when his side lost to Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday.

Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro has revealed what went wrong when his side lost to Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday.

The Buccaneers lost their fourth Soweto derby in a row with their coach ‘Spanish Guitar’ experiencing defeat for the first time – and surely had a bad first taste of it.

Riveiro says they didn’t start the game well as they usually do and were not themselves.

RIVEIRO ON WHAT WENT WRONG IN THE SOWETO DERBY

“We didn’t miss anyone, we just missed ourselves, we missed the rhythm that we are used to having in the beginning of the games,” he said as per Phakaaathi.

“We need to analyse why we didn’t (have it) in order to make it better next time because it is going to be important to do it next time (to begin the game well).”

When asked if playing in front of a sold out crowd was the reason for his charges to drop the ball, he insisted they are used to playing in front of capacity crowds.

“I think nowadays we are used to playing in this type of crowds, we played in Durban, we played in Polokwane and the second time we played in Polokwane it was in front of 45 000 fans and 37 000 in Durban. I think the guys are used to that, I don’t think there is an issue about that.”
