Jose Riveiro: What Orlando Pirates need to improve on

Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro has revealed what his side needs to improve after winning the MTN8 trophy on Saturday.

The Spanish tactician described himself as a “lucky coach” to have the quality squad he has after his charges showed up on the day to get the better of AmaZulu.

It was the first silverware for the 47-year-old coach after joining the Buccaneers in the off-season.

He admitted that after they scored the goal, AmaZulu forced them to sit back, particularly in the second half.

RIVEIRO ON WHAT PIRATES MUST IMPROVE

“A beautiful goal made the different in the final result,” Riveiro said as quoted by KickOff.

“In the second half it was obviously a typical final where you get the lead, then you don’t want to lose the lead.

“The opponent is behind you and need to do something special and accumulate more offensive players and we stopped playing a bit.

“But those are the situations that we need to improve in the future in order to dominate better scenarios like this.

“Again, the way these guys compete is amazing and I am very fortunate, lucky coach to have the chance to work with a group of players like this.

“I’m very, very proud.”
