Jose Riveiro sends message to his doubters after Royal AM clash

Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro has once again sent a message to his doubters after his side booked a semi-final spot in the MTN8.

The Buccaneers edged Royal AM 2-1 in their quarter-final on Saturday evening at the Chatsworth Stadium where they arguably produced their best performance so far under the Spanish coach.

Asked if he was happy about proving a point to those who questioned his capabilities, Riveiro said he was not here to make someone eat humble pie, but his focus was on helping the club “get better”.

“There is nothing I can do with that [doubters], the only thing that I can do is work ethic every morning, I am a professional football coach,” he told journalists after the match.

“I don’t even know what to say, I am not here to show anything, I am just here to help Orlando Pirates to get better and better everyday, every week, every game, that’s the only thing on my mind, nothing else.

Under the guidance of Riveiro, Ezimnyama Ngenkani have grabbed four wins, drawn twice, and lost once across all competitions this season.

The Sea Robbers will next take on Maritzburg United in the DStv Premiership on Saturday, 4 September.

Kick-off will be at 17:30.
