Khune preaches ‘patience’ in the midst of limited game-time at Chiefs!

Khune played for Chiefs in the MTN8 quarter-final against Mamelodi Sundowns, but largely limited game-time for the majority of the season has led to questions about his future at Amakhosi
According to a recent report on Soccer Laduma, the 34-year-old Khune, who was handed a two-year deal with an option to extend last season, could possibly work at the club post-retirement.

Taking to social media, Khune himself shared a short message, which appeared to suggest he wasn’t losing faith despite finding himself down the pecking order when it comes to playing.
“Hard at work, patience!” he stated.
More recently, interim coach Arthur Zwane has provided a clear indication that the stalwart should also just stay “patient”, with his playing days not over just yet by the sounds of it.
“He really wants to play,” said Zwane last week.
“He is pushing himself at training. It is just a matter of selection. Brandon (Petersen) has been doing well, Bruce (Bvuma) and (Daniel) Akpeyi have been doing well. The opportunity will arise again and surely he will get his fair share (of appearances).
“We still believe in him, he has that quality, the experience, and him being in the dressing room motivates the other players.
“He is part of the team whether he is playing or not. He is a positive person and is looking forward to his turn, should it come any time soon. He is a 24 hour professional.”

Meanwhile, Zwane has also spoken about the way forward for the club, which included making a reference to former Sundowns superstar coach Pitso Mosimane.
“When you look at the way things are right now, you would maybe say that it will take a while but I can assure you that we are getting closer… Yes, if you look at the results – I will make an example with [former Downs] coach Pitso [Mosimane].
“When he was at Sundowns, several times he was close to the sack but the president believed in him and look at where Sundowns is. Even now that he is no longer there, it is almost two years since he left, but there is continuity.
“There is a pecking order in terms of players who are coming in at the different age groups and all that. And when they bring in players, you can see why they are doing that.
“That’s what we are trying to do right now. Not that we are copying Sundowns – I mean Kaizer Chiefs has done that several times in the past – it’s just that right now we haven’t been getting things right for some reason.”
