Itumeleng Khune maintains he still has plenty to offer Kaizer Chiefs and is not yet ready to hang up his gloves.

The 35-year-old made just 12 appearances this season as he played a supporting role to Brandon Petersen.

He has been on the periphery at the DStv Premeirship club in terms of playing in recent campaigns but remains a key senior figure in the current squad under head coach Arthur Zwane.

Still Amakhosi captain, Khune’s contract expires end at the of June and the veteran shotstopper says his future lies in Kaizer Chiefs’ hands.

He said on Marawa Sports Worldwide: “What’s more important is what I offer on a daily basis on and off the field and the club will reward me based on that.

“So if the club feels like ‘no, Itu we’ve had enough or thank you for your services’, then if we have to part ways we will. That will be the club’s decision.

“But if the club says ‘Itu, we would like to keep you but in a different position’, I will still gladly appreciate what the club has done for me.

“So if I have to go coach, I will sit down with my wife, discuss and see if I still have it in my legs. So there’s a lot that we are going to discuss.”

Itumeleng Khune concluded: “I’m not ready to retire, I’m not ready to.”

Kaizer Chiefs are currently fourth in the DStv Premiership with just two matches remaining.

The Glamour Boys have an outside chance of clinching a CAF berth next season and have secured a MTN8 place for 2023/24.

They will take on SuperSport United away from home on Saturday, 13 May and finish their season at home against Cape Town City FC.

Both matches kick off at 15:00.
